Tottenham Hotspur reportedly jump to the head of the queue for Stuttgart attacker Nico Gonzalez after Fiorentina pull out of talks with the German club.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly moved ahead of Fiorentina in the race to sign Stuttgart attacker Nico Gonzalez.

The Argentina international was ruled out of action for the final months of the 2020-21 campaign with a torn muscle fibre, but he nevertheless made his mark with six goals and two assists from 15 Bundesliga outings.

A recent report claimed that Tottenham were willing to meet Stuttgart's asking price for Gonzalez, which is believed to be €25m (£21.4m) and €4m (£3.4m) in bonuses.

Fiorentina have also been linked with a move for the South American, but Fiorentina.it now claims that La Viola are prioritising other targets after talks with Stuttgart hit a brick wall.

The report adds that Fiorentina have turned their attention to Valencia attacker Goncalo Guedes, and Tottenham have therefore jumped to the head of the queue for Gonzalez's signature.

The 23-year-old was called up to the Argentina squad for this year's Copa America, and he played 80 minutes in their opening 1-1 draw with Chile on Monday.
