Matthew Etherington reveals details of Tony Pulis, James Beattie row

former Stoke City winger Matthew Etherington reveals details of the fall-out between Tony Pulis and James Beattie.

Former Stoke City winger Matthew Etherington has revealed details of the falling out between James Beattie and ex-Potters boss Tony Pulis.

The Welsh manager supposedly exchanged angry words with his players in the wake of a loss to Arsenal, with Beattie baring the brunt of it before he had time to dress after his shower.

"When we won [Pulis] was good. When he's angry... stay away," Etherington told Soccer AM. "All the coaching staff did and so did the players. Any time we got beat, stay clear until Thursday

"I witnessed [what happened in the changing room]. It was an experience. Peter Reid was the first person to speak. [Reid] was dressed, yes. We were all looking forward to our Christmas night out and it gave us plenty to talk about!

"I couldn't believe what was happening. We got beat 2-0 at Arsenal which wasn't a bad result for us. We'd played okay. We were poor away from home that season, or most seasons, and Arsenal were flying. It was just pure shock, I couldn't believe it."

Thirty-three-year-old Etherington was released by Stoke in May.
