Stoke City boss Mark Hughes rejects Leicester City's argument that Jamie Vardy should not have seen red in Saturday's 2-2 draw in the Premier League.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has claimed that he 'cannot understand' why Leicester City are complaining about a red card for Jamie Vardy in Saturday's Premier League clash at the Britannia.

Vardy controversially saw red in the 28th minute of the 2-2 draw after lunging into a challenge with Mame Biram Diouf, which brought a furious reaction from Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri.

Hughes, however, has insisted that the sending-off was "clear", rejecting suggestions that the England international was unfortunate to be given his marching orders.

"I have seen it and it was a two-footed challenge. The lad left the floor and I don't know what they are complaining about. From my point of view it was clear," Hughes told reporters.

Stoke led 2-0 at the interval of the Premier League clash, but Leonardo Ulloa halved the deficit in the 74th minute, before Daniel Amartey levelled the scores two minutes from time.
