Paul Lambert insists that Jack Butland is "the best goalkeeper in Britain at the minute", despite his error in Stoke City's 1-1 draw at Leicester City on Saturday.

Paul Lambert has described Jack Butland as "the best goalkeeper in Britain at the minute" following Stoke City's 1-1 draw at Leicester City on Saturday.

The Potters took the lead on the stroke of half time through Xherdan Shaqiri but were pegged back following a mistake from the England custodian.

Marc Albrighton's low cross evaded both Jamie Vardy and Moritz Bauer before the ball bounced off Butland's chest and went into the net for Leicester's equaliser.

Despite the error, Lambert remains confident in his keeper's abilities and has backed him to bounce back from the mistake.

"It's mixed emotions," Lambert told BBC Sport at full time. "I felt we deserved to win the game. We had great chances to win it but Leicester were champions a couple of years ago, they are a top side.

"[Butland] is the best goalkeeper in Britain at the minute. He will make mistakes and sometimes these things make you strong. He made a brilliant save soon after that. I have no fear about Jack Butland because he is a top goalkeeper."

Stoke, who remain 19th in the table, have scored seven own goals in the Premier League since the start of last season, more than any other side.
