Stoke City boss Mark Hughes admits Junior Hoilett interest

Mark Hughes admits that Queens Park Rangers winger Junior Hoilett is the type of player that he would like to sign for Stoke City.

Mark Hughes has admitted that Queens Park Rangers winger Junior Hoilett is the type of player that he would like to sign for Stoke City.

Potters boss Hughes, who worked with the 23-year old at both Blackburn Rovers and QPR, has made just two additions to his squad since replacing Tony Pulis as manager in May.

Both arrivals - Erik Pieters and Marc Muniesa - have been defensive players, but Hughes is hoping to bring in some attacking reinforcements before next month's transfer deadline.

The Welshman concedes that Hoilett, who has started all three of the Hoops' games this season, could be the perfect buy.

"Junior is a very good player and somebody I have worked with before," Hughes told The Sentinel.

"He's obviously started the season off well, but I'm not sure if he's available. If we are able to bring in players of that quality, we will try and do that. But we have got to be patient.

"Ideally, you want your targets in through the door a couple of weeks before the season starts, but that hasn't been possible for whatever reason and there is enough time to get players in."

Hoilett is under contract at Loftus Road until June 2016.
