Sam Allardyce: "We need to be more like Watford"

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce feels his side need to be more like their opponents Watford after their 1-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has said that his side need to perform more like today's opponents Watford after their 1-0 defeat to the Hornets.

Odion Ighalo scored his 10th goal of the season to seal the victory, but Allardyce believes that his side need to emulate the defensive stability that Watford displayed at the Stadium of Light.

The 61-year-old told reporters: "We knew how difficult it would be to get points off Watford today, in the end we created enough chances to get points of them and failed.

"We need to be more like Watford. They can hang on to what they've got and they've got two very good strikers who are the main reason Watford are where they are in the table.

"They keep getting points on the board, whether that be a draw or a win. We can't even get those draws at the minute."

The result keeps Sunderland in the relegation zone of the Premier League.
