Sunderland midfielder Lynden Gooch has won the first Under-21 Premier League Player of the Month award of the season.
The USA Under-23 international scored three goals in three games for the Black Cats' development side in August and his form saw him earn a senior debut in the Capital One Cup second round against Exeter City.
"I've had a great start; last season was frustrating for me because I had a few injuries so it was important to get off to a good start this year, and I came back really fit for pre-season which I think has really paid off," Gooch told the club website.
The other nominees for the award were Stoke City's Mohamed El Ouariachi, Charly Musonda of Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Bradley Reid.
