Swansea City have confirmed in a statement that Ki Sung-yueng is likely to miss the start of the Premier League season due to a knee injury.
The South Korea captain, who joined the Swans in 2012, picked up the problem while on international duty in the World Cup qualifier against Qatar.
Swans medical staff visited Ki in his home nation and will allow him to recover there before he comes back to Wales after Paul Clement's side have returned from their pre-season trip to America.
The club also mentioned in their statement that, although no date has been set yet for Ki's return to action, the injury is not expected to keep him out long-term.
The 28-year-old midfielder has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at the Liberty Stadium.
