Garry Monk: 'Wilfried Bony won't be judged on goals alone'

Garry Monk insists that he "does not care" who scores the goals for Swansea City, as long as his side win games in the Premier League this season.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has insisted that he is not concerned by Wilfried Bony's lack of goals in the Premier League so far this season.

The Ivory Cast international found the net for the first time this campaign in the Swans' 2-2 draw against Newcastle United last time out, before setting off on an 8,500-mile round trip as he represented his country on international duty.

After finally putting his longest run at the club without a goal behind him, Monk has backed Bony to continue helping out the side with his all-round game.

"Of course it was good for him to get up and running against Newcastle because you want all your strikers to score goals," Wales Online quotes the Swansea boss as saying. "But it honestly wasn't a concern for me because I know this team will score goals and my focus and concentration is on that and winning games, no matter who scores them.

"I don't really care who gets the goal as long as we do as a team and win games. That's the same with Wilf. It's easy to say you judge strikers on goals and maybe others do but I judge them on contribution and Wilf's has been great.

"Look at the others who have got goals and why they've happened. They've been set up by certain players or there has been a good passage of play by others and he's played his part."

The Welsh outfit are currently fifth in the Premier League table ahead of this weekend's trip to face Stoke City.
