Garry Monk expects permanent Swansea City role

Swansea City boss Garry Monk says that an announcement regarding his future in South Wales in imminent.

Swansea City boss Garry Monk believes that an announcement regarding his future in South Wales in imminent.

The 35-year-old replaced Michael Laudrup on a part-time basis earlier this year but, having led the Swans to Premier League safety, Monk is expected to be rewarded with a permanent role.

"I think the chairman stated it would be decided before the end the season so I imagine at some point before the end of the week an announcement would be made," he told BBC Sport.

City slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Southampton at the Liberty Stadium this evening ahead of their final game of the season away to Sunderland next week.
