Erwin Mulder: 'Swansea City move is a dream come true'

New Swansea City goalkeeper Erwin Mulder describes his move to the club as a dream come true.

New Swansea City signing Erwin Mulder has described his move as a dream come true.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper completed his switch on a free transfer from Heerenveen earlier today, becoming Swansea's first signing of the summer in the process.

Mulder will now challenge Lukasz Fabianski and Kristoffer Nordfeldt for the number one jersey at the Liberty Stadium, and he insists that he is relishing the chance to prove himself in the Premier League.

"I am very happy to be here. It is exciting. As a little boy I had two dreams - to play in the National League in Holland and also to play in the Premier League. Now the opportunity has come and I have taken it with both hands. The Premier League is the biggest league in the world. As a player, you want to be part of that," he told the club's official website.

"There have been many Dutch players here, including some goalkeepers. A lot of them have done well here so it is nice for me to be here now. I know a little bit about the club. I spoke with Leroy Fer and Mike van der Hoorn. They told me some good things about the club.

"I played I think over 250 matches in – I think I have improved well in that time. Of course I want to challenge to play here, but Lukasz Fabianski is here and Kristoffer Nordfeldt is here, so it is going to be difficult. But I am going to do best. Swansea finished last season well. Of course I hope we can do well net season. We want to finish as high in the table as possible and we will do our best to do that."

Mulder has signed a three-year deal in South Wales, keeping him at the Liberty Stadium until 2020.
