Swansea City opt against appealing Jordan Ayew dismissal

Jordan Ayew will miss Swansea City's next three matches after the Welsh outfit "reluctantly" decided against appealing the red card shown to him against Huddersfield.

Swansea City have decided against appealing the red card shown to forward Jordan Ayew in Saturday's goalless draw with Huddersfield Town.

The Ghana international was shown the Premier League's fastest red card of the season, lasting just 11 minutes before being given his marching orders for a high challenge on Jonathan Hogg.

Swans boss Carlos Carvalhal hinted after the match that he would attempt to overturn the dismissal, claiming that Hogg was equally at fault for the early flashpoint.

After exploring the video evidence, however, Swansea will not take the matter any further as they fear seeing the ban extended by the Football Association.

A club statement read: "Swansea City have reluctantly decided against appealing the red card shown to Jordan Ayew at Huddersfield Town on Saturday. The Swans were conscious that if an appeal is deemed frivolous by the Football Association, suspensions can be extended."

Ayew will now miss Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Premier League meetings with Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion after the international break.
