Andy Williams: 'Swindon Town deserve promotion'

Andy Williams claims that he and his Swindon teammates 'deserve' to win promotion to the Championship.

Swindon Town striker Andy Williams has claimed that he and his teammates 'deserve' to win Sunday's League One playoff final against Preston North End.

The Robins, who beat Sheffield United in the semi-finals, travel to Wembley Stadium this weekend with a place in the Championship on the line.

With one of the youngest squads in the division, Williams believes that the talent at Swindon should at least be playing in the second tier.

"We've got an unbelievable group of young, talented players here and I'd be disappointed if at least half of them didn't go on to play in the Premier League in their careers," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I've been so impressed with them this year and I think it's only right we finish it where we deserve to be, which is in the Championship next season."

Williams has scored 22 goals for Swindon during the current campaign.
