2026

Spurs let another youngster depart, this time allowing 20-year-old striker Kazaiah Sterling to sign a loan deal at Sunderland.

Lucas Piazon has had plenty of loan spells away from Chelsea. The latest is at Italian outfit Chievo.

2005

Big news from Leicester. The Foxes have lured Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans to the King Power Stadium from Monaco on loan for the rest of the season. Adrien Silva has moved in the opposite direction.

Tielemans said: “I’m really excited to get going. The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and when I was young, I always watched Premier League games. I’m really happy to be here and I’m excited to get started.”

2000

Three hours to go! The clock is ticking…

1943

Another English player travelling overseas is Ben Wilmot, who leaves Watford for a loan deal with Italian side Udinese.

1930

If reports are to believed, Wilfried Bony could be the first of many departures from Swansea tonight. The experienced striker, who is out of contract at the end of the season, appears to have played his last game for the Welsh club after joining Qatar outfit Al-Arabi. Daniel James, Jefferson Montero and Leroy Fer to follow? Watch this space!

1910

A departure from Old Trafford. No, it’s not Marouane Fellaini, just yet. It’s Joel Pereira. The Manchester United goalkeeper is off to Belgium to join KV Kortrijk on loan.

1900

There we have it. Peter Crouch is back in the English top flight. The 38-year-old striker’s move to Burnley is official, with Sam Vokes heading to Stoke in a permanent deal. 🤖

1835

Brighton are busy tonight. You wait for one signing and get two in quick succession! Another youngster arrives in the form of 20-year-old Slovenian striker Jan Mlakar, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal and will return to NK Maribor on loan.

1820

Another young English player departs for Germany for regular first-team football. Jadon Sancho, Reiss Nelson, Reece Oxford and now Emile Smith Rowe. The Arsenal midfielder has joined RB Leipzig on loan.

Gunners head coach Unai Emery said: “Emile is a promising young player. This move will get him valuable competitive action which is important as he continues his development.”

Press Association Chief Football Writer Simon Peach reports that things are quiet at Southampton at the moment. The same can be said for Tottenham, again!

1651

Not an incoming, but some good news for Celtic fans. Captain marvel Scott Brown will continue his long association with the club after signing a two-year contract extension. The Scot was linked with a move to Australia.

Another transfer window, another loan move for Watford forward Jerome Sinclair. Having played 19 times for Sunderland earlier this season, the 22-year-old has now joined League One strugglers Oxford.

1635

Cardiff have bolstered their squad for their Premier League relegation battle with the signing of Reading midfielder Leandro Bacuna for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old, who has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal, said: “I’m very happy and looking forward to getting started. Every game I play I give 100 per cent, and I’ll be fighting hard to help our team.”

1631

Newcastle may have made two signings already today but there could be an outgoing too. Sky Sports are reporting that winger Jacob Murphy is having a medical at West Brom ahead of a possible loan switch. The Baggies are, of course, in the market for another wide player after Leicester recalled Harvey Barnes.

1611

Everton have cut short defender Cuco Martina’s loan at Stoke in order to give him another temporary spell with Dutch side Feyenoord.

1548

Former England international Peter Crouch is heading back to the Premier League at the grand old age of 38. Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking at a press conference, has confirmed the striker is on the verge of a move to Turf Moor until the end of the season. Sam Vokes is heading to Stoke.

1523

Yannick Bolasie is on some journey this season! The winger left Everton to join Aston Villa on loan in the summer before ending his stay in the Championship earlier this month. Now he could be heading to Anderlecht.

The DR Congo international told Belgian newspaper HLN: “Anderlecht can be interesting for me. I have seen the information circulate, I do not say, ‘No’. After all, I have to play with a view to the African Nations Cup that is coming.”

1456

The fee for Almiron is understood to be £21million, breaking the club record set in 2005 when Michael Owen moved to Tyneside.

1434

Almiron has signed a five-year deal with Newcastle, the club have confirmed.

Magpies boss Rafael Benitez said: “From talking to the lad, you can tell that he is really focused and wants to do well. He wants to be successful and he wants to help the team, to score goals and give assists if it is possible.

“His impact in MLS has been really good – he’s been one of the best players this year – and hopefully he can give us more competition and more quality in the final third.”

Almiron provided 13 goals and 13 assists as Atlanta won the 2018 MLS Cup.

He said: “He has the attributes, he has the quality and he has the characteristics that we look for. Now we must see how quickly he can adapt, but we will try to help him and if he can give us more competition in this area, and more quality in the final third with his deliveries, the only thing I can see is a positive.”

Nottingham Forest have signed Pele everyone! Well, at 78 you can’t argue against his experience.

Something you won’t be seeing at the City Ground any time soon

It’s a different Pele, you say? And he’s not even Brazilian? Forest have actually signed 27-year-old Judilson Mamadu Tuncara Gomes, nicknamed Pele, from Monaco on loan. As you were.

Wolves midfielder Jonny Otto has made his loan move from Atletico Madrid permanent, the club have announced.

Manchester United have reached a deal in principle with Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng for the sale of Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to PA Chief Football Writer Simon Peach. He has only featured twice for the Red Devils since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took interim charge at Old Trafford.

Quick blast from the past – 2011 was a deadline day in the classic mould. Fernando Torres joined Chelsea from Liverpool in a £50million deal which smashed the British transfer record, with the Reds moving for Andy Carroll in a £35million transfer from Newcastle. It’s probably fair to say neither deal could be judged as a success.

Deadline day is all about the interesting sub-plots. Could Tottenham go through a second successive transfer window without any signings? Newcastle could also be one of the more active sides on deadline day – there are reports they could smash their club record transfer fee by signing Paraguay international Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United. The current record signing? Michael Owen back in 2005. The Magpies have also been linked with Monaco full-back Antonio Barreca.
Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings is reportedly undergoing a medical with Aston Villa – the Cherries’ defence certainly managed without him on Wednesday night as they thrashed Chelsea 4-0.

Panic on the streets of London, panic on the streets of Birmingham…..
Welcome to PA’s Transfer Live page – it’s that time of year again. The trend in this winter window has been towards loan deals, with Gonzalo Higuain’s switch to Chelsea probably the most high-profile to be completed so far and Denis Suarez’s move to Arsenal from Barcelona all but there.

January 2018 was a record-breaker but it’s unlikely we’ll get even close to those levels today.
