Valencia close gap at top of La Liga with late win

Alvaro Negredo helps Valencia close the gap at the top of La Liga after he scores a late winner against Almeria.

Alvaro Negredo scored a late winner as Valencia closed the gap at the top of La Liga with a 3-2 win against Almeria this evening.

A dramatic opening period saw two goals in two minutes as Daniel Parejo smashed Valencia in front before Tommer Hemed cancelled out the strike with a close-range finish.

Good work from Paco Alcacer then saw him set up Rodrigo for a tap in as Valencia edged back into the lead.

Their advantage didn't last long, however, with Hemed grabbing his second just five minutes later to cap an exciting first half.

Andre Gomes almost scored immediately after the break for Valencia, but his shot from outside the box was saved by Julian.

Rodrigo spurned a good chance before Negredo sealed the victory for Valencia with a neat finish five minutes from time.
