Watford head coach Marco Silva insists that the Hornets are still targeting survival in the Premier League, despite sitting in the top half of the table.

Watford head coach Marco Silva has insisted that the club's main target remains survival in the Premier League.

Since his arrival at Vicarage Road, Silva has led Watford to 22 points from 15 matches in the top flight, with the Hornets currently sitting in eighth place in the standings.

Watford hold a 12-point cushion above the relegation zone, but the Portuguese has suggested that he is not looking any further than guaranteeing that the club spend another 12 months in the top flight.

The 40-year-old told reporters: "We have a lot of games to play. It's important to start well, but this is a new game, a new fight.

"The only realistic aim is to remain in the Premier League. That's the goal. We know more or less how many points we need to achieve that. Until you achieve those points, your goals don't change."

Chief executive Scott Duxbury has revealed that Watford will sign more new players during the January window.
