Wednesday's Championship predictions including West Brom vs. Birmingham

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including West Bromwich Albion vs. Birmingham City.

Luton vs. Coventry (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

On their return to Championship action, Coventry City will continue their search for a first win of the season on Wednesday, when they travel to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town.

The visitors sit on just a single point after only five league outings due to the postponement of their early home games, while the hosts find themselves 18th with nine points from their eight games thus far.

We say: Luton Town 2-1 Coventry City

Coventry arrive lacking any confidence, and, while Luton are yet to establish the dominance on home turf that they have shown in previous seasons, they should have enough to come away with all three points.

Millwall vs. QPR (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Millwall and Queens Park Rangers square off on Wednesday evening looking to boost their efforts to secure a Championship playoff spot.

While the clubs sit in ninth and 14th position in the standings respectively, each side are within a victory of the current top six.

We say: Millwall 1-1 Queens Park Rangers

Given the inconsistency of both teams this season, any result is possible from this fixture. Nevertheless, we feel that a low-scoring draw is most likely, even if it would not necessarily suit either side.

Norwich vs. Bristol City (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Norwich City and Bristol City meet in the Championship on Wednesday evening as two of the form teams in the division.

The clubs, who occupy second and fourth position in the standings respectively, head into the fixture at Carrow Road on five and six-match unbeaten streaks.

We say: Norwich City 3-1 Bristol City

As the joint top goalscorers in the division, it would be naive to write off Bristol City ahead of arguably the most daunting trip in the division. Nevertheless, we cannot back against the Canaries, who are playing with confidence at each end of the pitch.

Rotherham vs. Blackpool (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Following the postponement of all the weekend fixtures in the Championship, Rotherham United and Blackpool will return to action on Wednesday in a contest at the New York Stadium.

The visitors sit 11th in the table, one point better off than their hosts, thanks to a win over Huddersfield Town in their most recent outing.

We say: Rotherham United 1-1 Blackpool

Both sides have looked positive so far this season, and with the Millers yet to lose on home turf, we see a share of the spoils as the most likely outcome with neither expected to put the other to the sword.

Reading vs. Sunderland (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Reading play host to Sunderland on Wednesday evening looking for the victory which would keep them in the top three of the Championship standings.

Meanwhile, Sunderland make the trip to Berkshire as high as eighth spot, despite failing to put together consecutive victories in the second tier this season.

We say: Reading 2-1 Sunderland

With two away wins to their name already this season, Sunderland will fancy their chances on Wednesday evening. However, Reading have a perfect record at home, leading us to predict a narrow victory for the Royals.

West Brom vs. Birmingham (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City meet in the West Midlands derby on Wednesday evening having both endured mixed starts to the new Championship campaign.

After just three wins between them, the Baggies and Blues occupy 16th and 21st position in the standings respectively ahead of their return to action for the first time since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

We say: West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Birmingham City

All things considered, it would come as a surprise if there were many goals in this contest. Birmingham are capable of prevailing by the narrowest of margins, but we are backing the Baggies to edge this contest by the odd goal.
