Ben Foster apologises to West Bromwich Albion fans

West Brom keeper Ben Foster apologises to fans for the goal he conceded in the FA Cup replay against Peterborough, despite going on to save two penalties in the shootout.

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has apologised to the club's fans for the goal he conceded during the FA Cup fourth-round replay with Peterborough United this evening.

Foster allowed a deflected effort from Jon Taylor to squirm away from him as the League One side took the lead at London Road, but the Baggies responded to sneak through to the last 16 on penalties.

Foster was the hero in the shootout, saving two spot kicks, but he acknowledged that his side were given a tough test by their spirited hosts.

"It wasn't easy, it was a very tough game. Fair play to Peterborough, they pushed us all the way. We knew they would try to get on top of us and they came at us from the start. It was a decent cup tie," Foster told BBC Sport.

"I have to apologise to our fans, I should have saved their goal. It got a deflection and some of the pace was taken out of it, it was scrappy.

"But we reacted well and got the goal back quickly. After that I thought we were the only one team that looked like scoring."

West Brom will now face Reading in the fifth round on February 20.
