West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt has admitted that he was relieved to score his first goal of the season in the victory over Queens Park Rangers.
The Northern Irishman opened the scoring as the Baggies secured a 2-1 win at Loftus Road on Boxing Day and Brunt concedes that it has been a difficult campaign on a personal level.
"Obviously, getting the three points is the main thing but I'm pleased I got a goal," the 28-year-old told reporters. "It has been a frustrating season for me as I've been in and out of the team with injuries. I've had a few games recently but a goal has been a long time coming and I'm delighted to have got one.
"The gaffer had a bit of a joke with me the other day about me not scoring enough goals – but I knew he meant it! It's been a long time since I scored and I haven't got enough goals from midfield over the last couple of years."
West Brom are currently fifth in the Premier League.
