West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke reveals that midfielder James Morrison was always talked about when he worked for other clubs.

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has insisted that James Morrison has qualities that opposition managers are scared of.

Morrison recently signed a new contract at The Hawthorns and Clarke has revealed that the reason that Morrison was offered a new deal was partly due to how he regarded the player when he worked for other clubs prior to taking over at West Brom.

Clarke said: "When you work for other clubs, you notice players who play for your opponents and James is one of those.

"He's maybe 'unsung' out of this club but I think the players here and the supporters appreciate James.

"At Liverpool, I recall we had a couple of pre-match meetings and James would come up as one of the players you would need to look after and be aware of his qualities. That was the reason we recently offered him a new contract and I was delighted when he signed."

Morrison inspired his club to a 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers last weekend.
