Paul Jewell: 'Departure not by mutual consent'

Paul Jewell reveals that he is consulting with lawyers after his sudden departure from Tony Pulis's West Brom coaching staff, which he claims was not by mutual consent.

Paul Jewell has revealed that he is consulting with lawyers following his sudden departure from West Bromwich Albion.

It was announced on Tuesday that the ex-Wigan Athletic and Bradford City boss had left the Baggies only a week after joining Tony Pulis's coaching staff.

Albion said that Jewell "decided that he will not be continuing his recent assistance on a more formal basis", but the 50-year-old has claimed that his exit was not by mutual consent and has hinted at legal action.

A statement read: "My departure was not by mutual consent. It is in the hands of my lawyer. I will not be making any further comment at this stage."

Former Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur manager Gerry Francis has replaced Jewell in Pulis's backroom team, extending his working relationship with the Welshman to seven successive years.
