Tony Pulis has claimed that West Bromwich Albion had become too complacent before his appointment as manager.
The former Crystal Palace boss was brought in to replace Alan Irvine after a poor run of form that saw the Baggies win just four league games before January.
"Have a look at the Championship and how many teams who had long periods in the Premier League," Pulis told BBC Sport.
"What they did was take their foot off the pedal and became complacent. We've got to shake the complacency off. It's not easy to do and we haven't got a lot of time to do it."
West Brom are currently 14th in the Premier League table.
