West Bromwich Albion's pursuit of Salomon Kalou has reportedly stalled.
The Baggies are believed to be willing to pay the Ivory Coast international's £2.6m release clause in his current contract with Lille.
However, the former Chelsea attacker is thought to earn around £80,000 a week at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole - a figure that West Brom have no intention of matching, according to the Express & Star.
The report added that talks between the two parties will continue, with Kalou said to be willing to compromise.
Further speculation has claimed that manager Steve Clarke would like Kalou and three more new players before the season gets underway next month.
