Diafra Sakho injury worse than first feared

West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho is likely to be sidelined until March after being pencilled in for thigh surgery on Saturday.

The thigh injury sustained by West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho is worse than first feared, the club have announced.

Last weekend, Sakho was forced off after suffering the problem during the second half of the Premier League fixture with West Bromwich Albion, but manager Slaven Bilic said that he expected the 25-year-old to return within four to eight weeks.

However, on Friday, the Hammers revealed that Sakho would undergo surgery on Saturday, with the expected rehabilitation time likely to leave the Senegalese international sidelined until March.

Sakho has scored three times in 12 Premier League appearances this season.
