West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini: 'Race against time to find best XI'

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini says that he faces a race against time to find his best starting lineup ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has acknowledged that he must do all that he can to discover his best starting lineup before the start of the new campaign.

Pellegrini has already made seven first-team signings since arriving at the London Stadium, and the Chilean has suggested that he remains open to adding more players to his squad before the end of the summer window.

However, despite being required to integrate over half-a-dozen new players during pre-season, Pellegrini says that he must find a way for the Hammers to be ready for their opening contest with Liverpool at Anfield.

At a press conference, Pellegrini told reporters: "It's difficult for me to answer how long it will take.

"When you bring so many new players, you may need some time to find the best starting XI but football doesn't give you time, so we must be ready for the first game."

Pellegrini has already spent approximately £85m, but some of that outlay could be offset by player sales before August 9.
