Sam Allardyce targets two wins for Hammers survival

Sam Allardyce says West Ham United need two more wins to guarantee survival.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce believes that two more wins will secure his side's Premier League status for next season.

The Hammers were beaten 2-0 at Chelsea on Sunday, which has left them just six points clear of the drop zone in 14th.

Allardyce is keen to reach the 39-point target in order to avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle.

When asked if he had a points target, Allardyce replied: "I'd say 39, because it's the average over the last 10 years.

"It probably might be 38, who knows, but all we want to do is get to it as quickly as we can and have a few games left if we can because that would mean that we would finish in a position in the league well clear of the bottom four, and that's what we want to try and do."

West Ham host West Bromwich Albion in their next match on March 30.
