West Ham United's new signing Marco Borriello has revealed that he snubbed a summer move to the Premier League prior to arriving at Upton Park this month.
The Italy international, 31, completed a loan switch to East London last week from Serie A outfit Roma.
He told West Ham's official website: "I was given the opportunity to move in the summer and I was looking to come over to England and the Premier League, but I decided to stay at Roma at that time.
"However, when the opportunity arose to join West Ham in this transfer window, I was very happy to make the move."
The striker, who has also enjoyed spells with AC Milan and Juventus, could make his Hammers debut in the visit to Chelsea on Wednesday night.
