Everton defender John Heitinga is reportedly ready to join West Ham United when the January transfer window opens this week, according to Sky Sports News.
The Hammers are desperate for defensive reinforcements with Winston Reid, James Tomkins and James Collins all currently ruled out through injury.
Sam Allardyce has made the move for Heitinga, who has not played in the Premier League for Everton this season, to ease his side's struggles at the back.
Heitinga is keen to make the move to get first-team football ahead of next year's World Cup and Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is happy to let the Dutch international leave, with his current deal due to expire in the summer.
It is understood that West Ham are likely to take over the remaining six months on the 30-year-old's contract.
Heitinga is unlikely to be in Everton's squad for the New Year's Day clash against Stoke City.
