Flamengo want Wolfsburg's Diego

Flamengo confirm their interest in Wolfsburg midfielder Diego.

Flamengo vice-president Wallim Vasconcellos has revealed that the club are interested in signing Wolfsburg midfielder Diego.

The 28-year-old, who scored 10 league goals for the German outfit last season, has been strongly linked with a move to his home nation in recent months.

"Diego is an excellent player," Vasconcellos told Radio Bradesco Esportes. "However, the information we have shows that he currently has a very high salary.

"We will listen to the manager, and if he wants Diego we will find out how much we would need to spend in the negotiations."

Diego has also previously played for Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
