Wolves' Doyle vows pre-season fitness

Kevin Doyle vows to be "100%" ready for pre-season training with Wolves next month.

Kevin Doyle has insisted he will be "100%" fit in time for pre-season training next month.

The Wolves striker, who was out for the final two months of last season after suffering a knee injury, made an unsuccessful attempt to return in the penultimate game.

"It was a bit frustrating to come back at Sunderland and tweak the knee again but it will be fine," he told reporters. "I was fine for 10 minutes when I came on. I was enjoying it and felt really good. But then I stubbed my toe, which is the worst thing you can do with a medial knee injury, and it aggravated it."

He added: "I'll be 100% for pre-season. I'm sure about that."

Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland international said he believes Wolves "deserved" to stay up last season. "Some of our performances, especially against the bigger teams, were fantastic," he told the club's official website. "We got more points than last season and it most years that would have been enough with a couple of games to spare.

"So that was an improvement - the only problem was that everyone else was a lot better as well."
