Sports Mole looks ahead to Wolverhampton Wanderers' trip to Crystal Palace on New Year's Day.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be aiming to bounce back from two consecutive defeats when they visit Crystal Palace on New Year's Day.

The Eagles have also be stuttering recently and have not won in their last five matches, drawing four.

Wolves currently sit 17th in the Championship table, nine points below the playoffs and the same distance from the relegation zone.

In contrast, Palace, who won the reverse fixture 2-1 in October, are fourth and could close the gap on leaders Cardiff City to just six points with a victory at Selhurst Park.

Championship topscorer Glenn Murray has scored 22 goals in 21 matches this season and he is expected to lead the Palace attack, alongside England international Wilfried Zaha.

Meanwhile, Wolves boss Stale Solbakken is likely to make severe changes to his starting XI in the wake of his side's 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Jermaine Pennant and Jamie O'Hara could return in place of David Davis and Bjorn Sigurdarson.

Recent form:
