Yeovil Town sack manager Gary Johnson

Yeovil Town confirm that they have sacked manager Gary Johnson.

Yeovil Town have announced that they have sacked manager Gary Johnson.

The club currently sit at the bottom of the League One table, four points adrift of safety.

Assistant boss Terry Skiverton will take temporary charge of the side until they find a permanent replacement.

Johnson returned to the club for a second spell in 2012 before achieving promotion to the Championship at the end of the 2012-13 season. However, a difficult campaign in the second tier saw them relegated at the first time of asking.

Yeovil's recent form has produced just three wins in 19 games.

"Unfortunately, ours is a business that depends on good results, and at this stage of the season the facts speak for themselves," chairman John Fry told the club's official website. "Following our relegation from the Championship we are now bottom of League One.

"After considerable discussion regarding the best way forward, the club's directors decided to terminate Gary's contract and to pursue alternative managerial options. I sincerely hope our incredibly loyal fans understand our decision."

Yeovil are back in action on Saturday when they host Crawley Town in the league.
