Warrington coach Tony Smith admits that he is 'crossing his fingers' over the fitness of Lee Briers for Sunday's Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield.

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith has admitted that he has his "fingers crossed" over Lee Briers's fitness ahead of Sunday's Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield Giants.

The 34-year-old has recently been on the sidelines with an Achilles injury.

When asked if Briers will feature against the Giants, Smith told Sky Sports News: "Fingers crossed. I'll tell you on game day.

"It's been a matter of nurturing him through training and if we get that right he's able to play. If we don't get it right he comes up short.

"It's a fine line. We're hopeful. We're hopeful that because he hasn't played in games in the past couple of weeks that he may be able to make it. I won't be able to tell you for definite until Sunday afternoon."

This weekend's other semi-final will be contested between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors.
