Jean de Villers named as South Africa captain for Rugby Championship

Jean de Villiers is named as South Africa captain for the Rugby Championship.

Jean de Villiers will return as captain for South Africa after coach Heyneke Meyers named him in his 30-man squad for the Rugby Championship.

De Villiers, who missed several mid-year Test victories, will lead the Springboks out against Argentina on August 16.

Meyer said: "It is great to have Jean back to lead our side in the Rugby Championship and I am sure he will slot in without any difficulty."

Thirty-three-year-old de Villiers is just four caps away from reaching the 100-cap mark for his country.
