Rafael Nadal: 'I am ready to fight at French Open'

Nine-time winner Rafael Nadal reveals that he is "ready to fight" after being handed a tough draw at this year's French Open.

Rafael Nadal has insisted that he is only focused on his first-round match at the French Open, despite being drawn in the same quarter as Novak Djokovic.

Nadal and Djokovic could meet in the last eight, the first time they would do so in a major since 2006, but the Spaniard has insisted that he must concentrate on his opening match against wildcard Quentin Halys.

The 28-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "It's strange because it didn't happen for a long time but at the end of the day, I have four matches to play to arrive at that match.

"I need to be ready for that first round. I am ready to fight again and we will see."

Nadal has slipped down to number seven in the world rankings after failing to win a clay-court tournament in the run-up to Roland Garros.
