Kevin Anderson beats Leonardo Mayer 6-4 6-4

Kevin Anderson overcomes Leonardo Mayer in straight sets in the third round of the Miami Open.

South African big-server Kevin Anderson will play Andy Murray in the fourth round of the Miami Open after he beat Leonardo Mayer in straight sets this afternoon.

Anderson lost his serve early in the first set but he recovered with some powerful ground strokes and eventually won the opener 6-4.

Mayer kept his cool at the beginning of the second set, but his nerves began to wane as the match reached a critical stage and he surrendered his serve in the ninth game.

Anderson served out his 6-4 6-4 win with ease, and will next face Murray on Tuesday.
