Serena Williams retires from her second-round doubles match at Wimbledon after falling ill.

Serena Williams has been forced to retire from her second-round doubles match at Wimbledon after falling ill.

The 32-year-old was checked out by medical staff before the contest had begun, sitting on the sidelines with her head in her hands.

Trailing 0-3 to Kristina Barrois and Stefanie Voegele in the first set, Williams was broken to love following some erratic serving.

The match was then called off after it was made clear that she was unable to continue.
