Wednesday's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup: Lautaro Martinez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Philippe Coutinho

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Wednesday, July 15.

The buildup to the summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected during the summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 'fears Arsenal career could be over'

Ainsley Maitland-Niles will seek a move away from Arsenal this summer after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta, according to a report.

The Englishman regularly deputised at right-back in the absence of Hector Bellerin early on in the season, but Maitland-Niles has struggled for consistent game time since the restart.

As well as alleged off-the-field problems, the arrival of Cedric Soares from Southampton has also seen Maitland-Niles fall further down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

Now, The Athletic report that the 22-year-old has accepted that he will not be in Arteta's long-term plans and is keen to advance his career elsewhere.

Maitland-Niles has been with Arsenal since the age of six and has emerged into the Gunners first team alongside fellow academy graduates Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock over the past few seasons.

The Englishman still has three years left to run on his current Arsenal deal, and he has turned out 96 times across all competitions for the Gunners since making his debut in 2014.

Barcelona 'offer Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal, Newcastle United'

Arsenal and Newcastle United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign out-of-favour Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho.

Having failed to make a name for himself in La Liga since arriving from Liverpool in 2018, Coutinho has been persistently linked with a move back to the Premier League.

Arsenal and Newcastle United are two top-flight clubs that have been tipped to move for the attacker this summer, with Bayern Munich turning down the opportunity to sign Coutinho on a permanent basis following his loan spell in Germany.

According to Goal, Barca are desperately trying to instigate a sale and have offered the former Liverpool man to Arsenal and Newcastle.

Barcelona are supposedly keen to raise funds to aid their pursuit of Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, although Arsenal are strapped for cash themselves and would reportedly prefer a loan move for Coutinho rather than a permanent deal.

Coutinho will remain at Bayern until the end of the current campaign, where he has registered nine goals and eight assists across all competitions for the Bundesliga champions.
