Danny Rose: 'Arsene Wenger could do wonders for England as manager'

Danny Rose says that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would do "wonders" for England if he was appointed manager.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose has admitted that he would welcome Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as the next England manager.

The Frenchman, who has been in charge of the Gunners for the past 20 years, recently admitted that he was open to taking the job in the future.

Gareth Southgate is currently in temporary charge of the senior team following Sam Allardyce's dismissal, which occurred just 67 days after he was hired by the Football Association.

Allardyce was forced out of the position after he was secretly filmed by The Telegraph appearing to explain how to get around the FA's ban on third-party ownership of players.

Rose has claimed that he would back any future appointment, but believes that Wenger would be a good option, despite the Frenchman being in charge of Tottenham's arch rivals.

"If he was to ever become manager of England that could certainly do wonders for the country," Rose told the London Evening Standard. "It would be great to have a manager like him with all the experience he has got. I'd be all for that."

Meanwhile, England are preparing for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia.
