Former Aston Villa manager Graham Taylor has revealed that he believes the club has been sold by Randy Lerner
The American owner was due to clarify his future at the Midlands club after the final game of the season.
"The feeling is that the club will be up for sale, it is only tittle tattle but I had heard that the club had been sold on the basis that it had retained a Premier League place, if it didn't, it wasn't sold," Taylor, who had two spells in charge at Villa Park, told BBC Sport.
"We all hear stories but I heard that from what I would call a good source and I think that just fits in with a lot.
"Randy Lerner has spent a lot of money on the club, when you are not coming to watch the games it gives the wrong impression to the supporters."
Villa retained their Premier League status last weekend with a 3-1 victory against Hull City.
