Former Germany striker Rudi Voller believes that Stefan Kiessling deserves a recall to the national side.

Bayer Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Voller has insisted that Stefan Kiessling can earn a Germany recall if he maintains his fine recent form.

Kiessling netted 25 league goals for Leverkusen last season, but despite finishing as the top German scorer in the Bundesliga, he was snubbed by national team coach Joachim Low.

Voller believes that Kiessling will prove his worth to the national side with another consistent campaign, despite competition from Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez.

He told Sueddeutsche Zeitung: "If he plays another season like the last one, then it will be hard for Jogi Loew to look past him, despite extreme competition for places."

The 29-year-old earned his last Germany cap three years ago in the third-place playoff at the 2010 World Cup.
