Paul Verhaegh: 'Improvements are needed for Augsburg'

Paul Verhaegh admits that Augsburg need to improve quickly after being beaten by Borussia Dortmund on Friday.

Paul Verhaegh has revealed his disappointment with how long Augsburg left it to cause problems for Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening.

Augsburg threatened to snatch a point with two late goals before the 3-2 defeat was confirmed, but Verhaegh was keen to address the errors which marred their performance for the majority of the game.

"We had another half-chance after we made it 3-2, but it never looked like it was going to be so tight in the end," the Dutch defender told reporters. "We conceded two easy goals and we knew it was going to be hard.

"I don't think we can be accused of not trying to the end, but we've also seen that we've got to improve too. We weren't capable of really causing Dortmund problems until the final 10 minutes."

Augsburg return to action on September 14 against Eintracht Frankfurt when the Bundesliga resumes after the international break.
