Burnley coach Sean Dyche opts for a sole striker in the shape of Ashley Barnes as the Clarets welcome the visit of Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Burnley coach Sean Dyche has opted for a sole striker in the shape of Ashley Barnes as the Clarets welcome the visit of Newcastle United in the Premier League this evening.

Barnes has been given the chance to continue in place of injured striker Chris Wood, while Sam Vokes has made a return from abdomen trouble and finds himself on the bench.

As for the visitors, Dwight Gayle has managed to force himself onto the sidelines following his own injury layoff, leaving Joselu to continue in attack alone from the off.

The frontman is to be given creative support from a five-man midfield including Christian Atsu, Mohamed Diame and Jonjo Shelvey, although Mikel Merino has missed out through a back problem.

Burnley: Pope; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Ward; Gudmundsson, Cork, Hendrick, Defour, Brady; Barnes
Subs: Arfield, Wells, Westwood, Long, Vokes, Bardsley, Lindegaard

Newcastle United: Elliot; Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Manquillo; Diame, Shelvey, Ritchie, Perez, Atsu; Joselu
Subs: Clark, Murphy, Gayle, Hayden, Saivet, Darlow, Gamez
