Andrea Orlandi gives Brighton & Hove Albion the lead against Cardiff City.

Brighton & Hove Albion have punished Cardiff City for their profligacy in front of goal by taking a 1-0 half-time lead at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Fraizer Campbell went close early on, clipping Tomasz Kuszczak's cross bar, before Peter Whittingham brought a decent save from the Pole.

Once again Kuszczak saved Brighton by tipping Craig Bellamy's shot onto the bar as Cardiff continued to threaten.

Brighton saw plenty of the ball, but all the chances were falling Cardiff's way.

They found Kuszczak in inspired form, as he pulled off double stop to deny Bellamy.

The visitors went ahead against the run of play just before the break when Andrea Orlandi turned the ball home from close range following a fast counter-attack.
