Celtic have confirmed that they have appealed Virgil van Dijk's red card against Dundee United in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

The defender was sent off after a scuffle broke out between both sides during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Tannadice Park.

The Scottish champions will find out on Thursday if they have succeeded in their appeal.

Meanwhile, Dundee have also lodged an appeal with the Scottish Football Association over Paul Paton's dismissal in the same melee.
