Half-Time Report: Stevan Jovetic strike gives Manchester City the lead against Chelsea

Manchester City lead Chelsea 1-0 after the first half of their FA Cup fifth-round tie, thanks to a goal from Stevan Jovetic.

Stevan Jovetic has given Manchester City a 1-0 lead over Chelsea in their FA Cup fifth-round tie at the Etihad Stadium.

The hosts came close to taking the advantage when Yaya Toure saw his powerful strike spilled by Petr Cech, and Jovetic followed up to fire the loose ball against the top of the crossbar.

City opened the scoring in the 16th minute as Edin Dzeko played Jovetic through on goal, and he kept his composure to calmly slide the ball into the bottom corner past the keeper.

Branislav Ivanovic caused a moment of panic in the City defence when he burst down the right wing and drilled a shot across goal that Costel Pantilimon spilled, but the keeper was able to gather the ball at the second attempt.

The hosts were enjoying more of the ball and Toure fired a shot wide, before Cech had to be alert to tip Dzeko's curling effort away from danger.

City came close to adding a second at the end of the half, when Dzeko was inches away from connecting with James Milner's fierce ball across the box.
