Chelsea are reportedly ready to join Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to join Tottenham Hotspur in the battle to sign Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.

The Wales international is currently in his sixth campaign at the Bernabeu, but the return of Zinedine Zidane could lead to the departure of the 29-year-old.

Bale is said to be happy with life in Spain, but according to Don Balon, Spurs and Chelsea are not ready to accept defeat in the race for the player's signature.

Spurs appear keen to make a high-profile addition during the summer transfer window, but Bale is said to not favour a return to his former club.

Chelsea also appear outsiders to sign Bale, although the attacker could potentially be used by Real in any deal to sign Eden Hazard.

Bale has just over three years remaining on his contract at the European champions.
