West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce believes that Andy Carroll's involvement with England will help boost his fitness.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has welcomed Andy Carroll's recall to the England squad.

The Hammers boss said that training with the national team will help the on-loan Liverpool striker regain his fitness following a hamstring injury.

"Andy's match fitness is a little behind where we would like it to be. But helping him to perform for England and catch up on match fitness would be an ideal solution for the pair of us," the Daily Mail quotes Allardyce as saying.

Carroll has played just 18 minutes of football since his move to Upton Park, picking up an injury on his debut against Queens Park Rangers.

He has been included in Roy Hodgson's England squad for the World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland.
