Greg Dyke: "English football has a problem"

New FA chairman Greg Dyke believes that English football "has a problem" as he outlines his plan for the future.

New Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has claimed that English football "has a problem" as he sets out his plan for the future.

Critics have recently said that the abundance of foreign players in the Premier League is damaging the national team across all levels.

"English football has a problem," Dyke told reporters. "We have to find a solution together without damaging the Premier League. Without a solution it is hard to see England challenging in the years ahead.

"It is also crucial that English football finds a solution without undermining the undoubted success of the Premier League. We don't want to kill the golden goose in the search of the golden egg but we do have to do something if the English team is to prosper in the future.

"It is quite possible that we won't have enough players qualified to play for England who play at the highest level in this country or anywhere else in the world."

Dyke was appointed as the FA chairman in July following the departure of David Bernstein.
