Gareth Southgate will submit 55 players to FIFA for England's provisional World Cup squad and will reportedly include both Kyle Walker and Reece James.

Gareth Southgate is set to include both Reece James and Kyle Walker in his provisional World Cup squad, according to reports.

The England manager has the chance to submit a provisional squad of up to 55 players and only players from that longlist will be eligible for call-ups to the final squad.

FIFA require that all 32 countries competing in Qatar next month name a roster of players for "operational arrangements", such as visas and accreditation, with the final squad having to be named by November 14.

According to the Daily Mail, despite both players being currently sidelined through injury they are set to be included on the lengthy list of candidates for Qatar.

Both players are currently injured with Walker having recently undergone surgery, but the defender has claimed that he can recover from his groin injury in time for the World Cup.

Whereas the situation for James looks bleaker, given that he was confirmed to be out for at least eight weeks after injuring his knee ligaments.

Kieran Trippier has been a fixture in the England squad for years under Southgate, while Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold is also in contention for the final squad.

England's first game takes place on November 21, when they take on Iran in Group B.
